Halo 2 Done Segmented -
03-16-2009
, 04:15 AM
We are very happy to announce Halo 2 Done Segmented. 1:30:29 on Legendary. This run has been in the making at High Speed Halo for about 3 years now!
Download links: SDA game page- http://speeddemosarchive.com/Halo2.html SDA Downloads (all sizes) Archive.org High Quality 1.59GB Archive.org Medium Quality 479MB Archive.org Low Quality 171MB Individual Levels- http://highspeedhalo.net/?h2ds The Halo 2 Done Segmented Project began it's life as the "Halo 2 Skulls, Legends, Birthday Parties" thread. In it, Slynki proposed segmenting a run, in which the runners get a lot of skulls for crazy effects. Soon, the project shifted focus to pure speed, only getting what skulls were necessary. The result is a run that we think is the fastest you'll ever see Halo 2 completed in. The following Runners completed segments for the run: Cody Miller, djDAP, Goatrope, Louis Wu, NOKYARD, and Scurty. The speed demos archive game page explains most of the glitches and tricks we used, as well as the commentary. To enable the commentary, download the run from either archive or SDA, and enable the second audio track in your player program. In quicktime, go to Window->Show movie properties. Check the second audio track, and uncheck the first one (or lower its volume significantly). In VLC, go to Audio->Audio Track->Audio 2. You can also download the commentary as an AAC audio file here. We're all very happy to finally have this run released, and we hope you enjoy it. Thanks to: Everyone at halo.bungie.org, highspeedhalo.net and highimpacthalo.org. Flechette Slynki Louis Wu Bungie Bisu[Shield] and SlayerS_`BoxeR` Brian Towne Gnet SDA

Amazing. Metro, Oracle and Uprising made me fall from my chair. I enjoyed the commentary too.
Easily in the top 5 best runs I've ever seen. |

Very nice. However someone with PAL should have tackled the arbiter, there are a number of key shortcuts only on PAL for that level or is it not allowed to switch formats like that?

In the commentary they mentioned that SDA splits it up by region, so I don't think they would like a PAL/NTSC combo.
I think I remember Nofirefrog saying something about front paging this, hopefully... |

Random Starcraft players?
I watched the first hour already, will finish up later. Excellent so far, especially since I haven't seen many of the speed runs prior to this. |

Excellent. I've lurked and downloaded so much for my group, shown them the process and progress of this site's members and achievements, and this will be next on my list. This, however, made me need to register, just so that I can personally thank the people involved in this run.
Stunning. And now, I have to show this to my group. Heh. (aaaaaaand, that's why i'm still new. lol. i posted this to the other message. i'm disabled, halo disabled.) |

This is one of the best segmented speedruns I've seen.
One question though: how come in Great Journey, the place where scurty leaves the spectre is not where NOKYARD takes it? |

the original video clip he sent me was so dark i had to guess where he was - we decided to leave it because the segment where i pick it up is a timed segment and picking it up in a different area would have no affect on the final time

So I'm guessing this is supposed to show what COULD be possible? Since there are a schlapskieload of cuts and edits where the voices cut out suddenly, or everything twitches and the ghost suddenly starts boosting again ect. I wonder how they did that, some kind of auto-save mod, or done on computer idk
