Last.Fm and you! - 06-19-2007 , 06:39 PM

Last.fm is an online music service thing that tells you what you listen to, how much, and what else you should listen to. Think of it as Myspace, except just for music, and none of the suckiness.

All you do is go to www.last.fm and click on the Sign Up button in the top right corner.
You will be asked to download a program which monitors what you listen to in any music player you use (it will ask you to select one prior to download), and then just start listening, and the Charts in your account will start to build themselves up.

There is also a feature to put those charts into BBcode or HTML so you can put them onto forums as sigs, or onto a blog.

If you already have a Last.fm , make sure to add galadors group for HIH by clicking here

I hope you guys make use of this wonderful service and join our groups!

EDIT BY DOMINO: Stuck it! Last.fm is one of the best music sites around, I think it'd be good for people to exchange their last.fm accounts just as they exchange their myspace accounts. :)

EDIT BY GALADOR: I'm going to go through and add everyone's account links to this post.

I love last.fm, especially for the music recommendations. I think it's pretty cool you can see graphical representations of your listening habits, too.

Like Phas said, there is an HIH group, and also there's an IBO group for you IRCers.

My profile. :D

Nothing like it actually, Pandora is an internet radio sort of thing that only plays artists similiar to what you are looking for.
This is that, and more. This gives you charts, bios for those artists, and pretty much everything else

I'm finding aspects of this very confusing...I want to build a playlist, and it tells me to click "add to playlist" on any track. Am I supposed to click that in the Last.fm player that I downloaded? I don't see anywhere that says "add to playlist."

No, the add to play list button is next to the tracks on your charts. Click around on your home page, it should be there somewhere.

And by the way:

I sent out some friend requests, but give me a shout if I missed anybody.

My old Last.fm account is "ZachTorpy" but Amarok hasn't been syncing my music like it says it has. All of the stuff shown on my profile is ridiculously old (and not my taste anymore).

haha what's to know how to use. Install the software, let it run in the background. It updates your profile and everything for you, as long as its correctly setup with your music library software.

anyway

Yeah, this is a bump, but I was wondering if a moderator could move this to the Music, Movies, etc. forum.

I don't want the Last.fm thing to die, these guys turned me onto it, and I love it. :D
I subscribed, the 1-month 3 dollar deal. :)
