[Walkthrough] Buying a new computer? Want to built it yourself? Look here! - 01-09-2008 , 03:23 AM

Due to the increasing amount of threads on people wanting to get ideas\help on what computer to get, or what parts to get a detailed thread on what to buy, an why, is in order. I shall lay this out, building each computer from parts that you could get from any site, but I will refer to Newegg.com for each. You can get them from any site that you choose, but obviously make sure you choose the part correctly.

Nice! I love this. *Bookmarks*

Only thing is, I wouldn't shop through Newegg.

However it is a great indexing site. I can find the parts for 5-10% cheaper on other sites (Found a EVGA 8800GT the other day for $250). And with the updating up parts and schlapskie, plus neweggs interface, I find just having all those parts linked there will work very nicely. If anyone wants to get them from anywhere else, they at least know what to look for.

I cant wait for the new Penryn chips to come out though. I'm going to be updating these builds for that. 3.0Ghz for $166 (Before price gouging).

What's a better site then, I demand to know.

Because I've always ordered my stuff there, and i'm getting a 22" monitor from there soon too

Anywhere else. There is no one site that has consistantly good deals, so you have to do some searching. You might find a amazing deal on a Harddrive on one site, then get a CPU, RAM, mobo combo on another site, while buying one or two peices off 3 more sites.

Newegg might have a few items at good prices, but not everything is like that.

Updated the post with another build.

Pretty much the same as the gaming setup, but no good video card.
