Halo 2 Skull Database - 08-26-2006 , 05:00 AM

Though seriously, before any of you say anything, this is going to get a stamp of approval soon, as I've already discussed with a certain Prince.

Well, I'm taking tmac's advice and adding a "suggested usage" section.
Some...rather, most will be obvious to all, but oh well. These are for the unknowledgable.

To see all of the original videos, AR saves for the skulls, go here
-There's a good chance some(if not all) of these videos don't work anymore. This was about a year ago...

Anywho, if you have any problems regarding this thread, please PM them to me, and any moderator that wishes to lock this, please do give a reason.
I'm mainly posting this due to the outdatedness of the skull database.

--------------------------METHOD FOR OBTAINING--------------------------

Unnamed Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
At the begining of the level, after you power your shields for the first time, the Sarge shows up on an Elevator. Wait in the room until the Sarge starts berating you, telling you to get into the elevator. You MUST wait for him to say "Would it help if I said please?" Once he says this, get in the elevator, and go down to the tram. Get on the tram, and face towards the INSIDE of the building. Press up against the glass doors towards the inside of the building. You should hold 'X' down, and you should pick up the skull. It's on a stack of green crates, near the end of the tram ride.

Thunderstorm Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
Level-Cairo Station
After you take out the second room of covenant boarding the ship, the game says "Priority Shift". Shortly after this you will go to the armory where you will have to take out a couple of Elites. The next room is "Commons B.01". Clear out all of the enemies on the ground floor and the Grunts in the far landing that are manning the plasma turret. Once you've cleared the room, look towards the outside -- literally out into space. You should see the dual tram tracks, and some diagonal supports holding up the tram tracks. You'll also note that the diagonal supports in the center are close together. One of those supports goes down the side of the wall near where one of the glass railings is. You can jump on the post for the glass railing and jump up onto the diagonal railing. From here, jump to the tram track and follow it all the way down towards the door you originally came in. You should see a landing with a trash can. The skull is in/under this trash can. Simply walk up to the trash can and hold X to pick up the skull.

Blind Skull-Difficulty: Any
As soon as the level starts your vision will be blurry. Directly ahead of you there is a hallway with a flashing light. Enter the hallway, turn around, and look up There will be a horizontal flashing halogen light. Jump to it. Then turn right and crouch jump to the roof. Then turn right again and there is a long passageway with some ammo, grenades, and the Blind skull.

An old study(that I've just now decided to find) documents a man finding a third skull in Outskirts that is only existent due to loading oddities. There's another theory that every skull in the game has a duplicate somewhere in the same level(for whatever reason). This skull has no powers(as there isn't an extra activation zone for it. These "spare" skulls do nothing, and are hard to find.
This is the only documentation I've bothered to find, though I do believe there's a similar one for Thunderstorm on Cairo with the skull at the bottom of space. The video for it is old and unusable. The new one can be found here thanks to grumpy!

IWHBYD Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
The specifics of this skull are FINALLY known! The main thing triggers are spawning the sniper alley gremlins(I don't use that word enough...), not dying, and not reverting to a past checkpoint. After that's it's merely luck. You heard right, the end all way to get the IWHBYD skull is LUCK! A simple one-in-seven shot. The skull itself is in a room on a balcony. The room contains a sniper rifle and sniper ammo, and if you're one of the lucky ones who can get the skull to spawn, it will also contain the skull. Picking up the skull teleports you to the ground level, and gives you just a Plasma Pistol. You will quickly be assaulted by Elites. Some people say that grunts and jackals will also spawn, but I've never seen them do so, there's a good possibility that grunts followed marines into this alley before the fight, so they started there. In my video, 7 waves of Spec Op Elites come out. Killing the last Elite will have the text for the skull flash, meaning that you have to kill all of the Elites to actually finish getting the skull. If you die to the Elites, and your checkpoint no longer spawns the skull, kill yourself 4 or 5 times to be pushed back one extra checkpoint. The skull should have one more chance of spawning, so you can try again.
Video Link: here (may be busted =/ hopefully not)

Catch Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
Right after you exit from the underground highway, you'll come to a large open-air circular room with a handful of Jackal snipers and some Elites. The quickest way to get safely to the skull is to get the next checkpoint by jumping into the Warthog and letting the marine drive you to the next area. Jump out of the jeep and backtrack to the large room, and clear the area. You will see a large semi-circlular beam going from one of the main platforms that goes from the ground up to the top of the two towers. Do a grenade jump at the bottom of this beam and walk all the way to the top. Jump over to the ledge of the left tower. Walk to the end of the ledge and you will find the Catch skull.

Grunt Birthday Party Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
Progress throughout the level until you get a banshee. As soon as you are in the banshee, fly straight down towards the far side of the bottom of the middle structure. You will see two large circular supports and a large connetion between the top of those two supports. In between the supports and the large connection there is enough space to land your Banshee. You will find a circle of dancing grunts, and in the middle of that circle is the Grunt Birthday Party skull.

Famine Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
Level-The Oracle
After you get off of the slowly decending elevator, you will come to a hallway where you see a handful of dead bodies. Continue into the next room, and you will be on the second floor of a room that has a lot of glass windows. When you enter this room, look to the right, and find the third pane of glass. It should be to the right of a wall that has some flood guts splattered on it. Shoot out this window, and the windows directly across the room. If you look below you, you will see a platform that has four tall posts. On the far side of the room there is a column that is right in between the two windows on the far side of the room. Turn on your active camo, and jump to the center platform. Jump on either of the posts on the far side of the platform and jump to the column between the windows. Make another jump through the window you shot out, and make a left. Walk all the way to the end and you'll find four flood elites convulsing on the floor, with the Famine skull in the middle of them.

Envy Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
Level-Delta Halo
Progress through the level until you come to an area with a large central stucture that has a multitude of columns. When you first get into this area, you have to go left, and there is a ramp on the left that goes up and then back down. Get on this ramp and continue up the wall until you are on the landing where there will be (or used to be) some plasma turrets. Follow this landing all the way to it's end, and you'll see a door that is blocked off by a large stone. Jump on top of the stone, and jump again to get on a thin ledge. Make sure you're up against the left wall, and grenade jump up to the top of the wall to your left. Once you're on this wall, you'll see that the right wall ends and there is some earth behind it. Jump onto the dirt, and follow the stone wall all the way to the top. When you're on the top of this wall, you can look down towards the center and you should see two cloaked Elites looking towards each other with the Envy skull between them.

Assassin's Skull-Difficulty: Any (if you want the effect; Legendary)
Immediately after the gondola ride following the battle with the hunters, there will be a building with two turrets on it. Enter the building and jump on the square stone block right in front of you. Jump again onto the ledge above you. This ledge takes you outside to where the turrets were. You'll want to get on the roof of the small room you were just in. There is a broken pillar right outside the door that you can jump on which will give you plenty of height to get on top of the roof. Using croutch jumps and grenade jumps, follow the right side perimeter of the building. Once you have gone as far as you can go you will find a small grassy area with two cloaked dancing elites and the Assassins skull.

Mythic Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
Level-Sacred icon
There is a semi outdoor area which has the same type of area right next to it. There is a large sentinal in front of each one. Go past this area and down the piston and you'll be in a vary dark and dank flood infested area. There's a stack of 6 or 7 boxes as you enter the room. Use them to jump up to the landing above. There are a handful of alcoves on your right hand side. The skull is in the third alcove, floating above a dead human flood.

Sputnik Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
Level-Quarantine Zone
From the start of the level, turn directly around, and you should see a tunnel. Head into the tunnel and go straight until you exit the tunnel. Go straight across the open area, and you'll come across a broken pipe tunnel on your right. Straight in front of you you should see a small ledge running across the wall, above the green pit. Carefully get onto that small ledge and walk all the way to the end of the ledge to find the Sputnik skull.

Angry Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
Fight all the way through the Covenant city until you reach the outdoors. As soon as you are outside, turn right. You will see some Covenant crates next to the rock ledge. Jump from the crate to the rock ledge. Walk up the rock hill and to your right you will see a large red girder. Jump onto the girder and follow it back towards the complex you came from. You will run into an invisible grunt weilding a fuel rod. Kill the grunt, and continue to the end of the girder where you will see the Angry skull floating above a small grav-lift.

Ghost Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
After the outdoor area with all the ghosts and grunts, there is an 'L' shaped room that is seen throughout the level. It is right after the armory room that is full of covenant and human weapons. Grenade jump using a jacked ghost up to the rafters and it's up there. You can also push a box from the armory room into the hallway, and jump on this box. The skull is right above the door, and if you hold X down while jumping close enough to the skull you will pick it up, even if you're not in the rafters and the skull isn't visible.

Iron Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
Level-High Charity
When you enter the final (the second) Gravity Lift, look up. A skull will pass through you extemely quickly so you must start holding "X" a bit before you actually pass it to grab hold of it.

Black Eye Skull-Difficulty: Legendary
Level-Great Journey
Eventually you have to escort the Sarge who is in a Scarab. Follow him along until you see the huge compound in front of you. Directly above the door that the Sarge blows open with the Scarab is an angled beam. Land your Banshee on this beam and walk to the top of the beam. Look down and to your left and you will see a circular angled wall. Jump onto this wall and walk to the top. Walk straight along the right-hand side of this area. You will have to jump over a small beam in front of you. Continue walking straight until you come to a grassy area. Keep walking up the grassy hill and go until you come to the point where can jump onto the angled support for the tower meets the grass. Jump onto the support and walk up the support. It's a very steep climb, so jumping while you're going up the support speeds up the walk some. At the first landing you will see the Black Eye skull sitting on a glowing white panel on the floor.

-----------------------------EFFECTS AND THEORIES----------------------

Armory Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Most referred to as "Unnamed Skull" due to the lack of name when you pick up the skull.
Effect(s): Proven: Makes ALL AI better, as opposed to just enemies.

Thunderstorm Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Effect: Makes all grunts and elites Spec. Op. As in, they're all white, and elites wield swords in their back pocket, Jackels are all yellow-shielded, and brutes are all captains. This does not apply to enemies/allies with pre-programmed "ranks". NEW: apparently the heretics on The Arbiter have ranks as well. The elites would appear to be golden as opposed to brown.
Not a noticable change, but at least it's something...

Blind Skull: Difficulty: Any
Effect: Your screen becomes HUDless. You no longer have a reticule, you cannot see your health bar, ammo amount, gun/reserve gun, etc.
An effect I've never heard of that's apparently old, was found by Cowbell a while back.
Pick up the Blind skull, then exit out and play a multiplayer level. Any level for any amount of time. Return to Campaign mode for the effect to take place.
What it does is remove everything Blind already hadn't removed: Checkpoint text, loading text, pick up weapon text, even skull names, enter/flip vehicle, waypoints. No text displays at all. This is dubbed "Double Blind" _>
Their shotguns are apparently more like SMGs according to mccisi.

IWHBYD Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Full name: I Would Have Been Your Daddy Skull.
Effect(s): Through extensive code-searching, this skull's specific effect has been found(took us long enough). There is a ratio for normal dialogue and rare dialogue spoken in the Campaign and multiplayer levels. Campaign for AI and death screams, MP for just death screams. The ratio for common to rare dialogue in Campaign is flipped when IWHBYD is activated. I'm not sure what exactly the ratio is(it may have been said at one point), but to give an example- Common:rare 50:3 For every fifty common dialogue snippets, there will be three rare ones. This is now flipped so there are fifty rare sayings and three common ones. I'm sure the ratio is a bit more even.

Catch Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Effect(s): Makes all enemies drop two grenades, and makes all enemies and allies throw more grenades than normal.

GBP Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Full name: Grunt Birthday Party Skull.
Effect(s): When shot in the head WITHOUT A SHIELD, anyone (marine, enemy, or other) will explode as if a plasma grenade had been stuck to their head.

Famine Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Effect(s): All weapons found on the ground have less ammo/battery than normal.

Envy Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Effect(s): Allows Master Chief to camoflouge in any Master Chief level by pressing the white button. Camoflouge times are dependent on difficulty, and are the same times as the Arbiter's camoflouge.

Assassins Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Effect(s): Makes all enemies permanently camoflouged.

Mythic Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Effect(s): Proven: not quite anything yet... Theoretical: Makes all enemies have more base health (after shield). This is unconfirmed, but there is strong evidence towards this. OR makes MC do less damage with all of his attacks.
I've been informed that MC destroys destructable objects at the same rate as without mythic.
Ahh, Mccisi has KINDLY provided us with a WONDERFUL study on the exact effects Mythic has on health/shields. Page 5, second post.

Sputnik Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Effect(s): Makes all force in the game stronger. Melees send items further and flips enemies around, and explosions send everything further.

Angry Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Effect(s): Makes all enemies with the exception of brutes and flood (flood needs a wee bit more testing) shoot faster. This skull can also be cycled through your equipment as if it were a third weapon.

Ghost Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Effect(s): Makes enemies not flinch when shot with a sniper rifle, meleed, shot with a charged PP, or hit with a sword, grenade, or rocket. I think that's all of them, but I'm not sure. Point is that they never flinch.

Iron Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Effect(s): When playing cooperative play, you are instantly reverted to last checkpoint if either player dies regardless of difficulty.

Black Eye Skull: Difficulty: Legendary
Effect(s): Your shield does not recharge, but when you kill any creature with AI (flood, enemies, allies, sentinels) or SOME breakable objects with a melee,(not all breakable objects give you bars of shields) you gain a full bar of shield. This can give you overshields. YOU CANNOT gain shield bars with a sword.
After research from Shugo, it seems that the majority of breakable objects will give you shields, however, I've yet to hear about glass...
Even breakable panels give you shield bars.
Wander around this archived topic for various posts by people on Black Eye's effects with objects, though it looks like most of them do give you shield. Cars, the bricks in metro, constructors, etc.
Topic Here
A new study of Black Eye reveals that it gets rid of any and all snow weather effects in both campaign and multiplayer. However, the other weather effects remain intact. While rain still exists in various levels, the snow on the end of Sacred Icon and all of Quarantine Zone does not exist, nor does Lockout's snowy weather exist.
Interesting enough though, the air vent of Sacred Icon that leads to the end of the level where you first see snow still has the snowy effect VERY briefly. A few seconds maybe. When you get to the bottom of the vent, the snow is no longer falling.

This is basically what I've compiled from all of my (and everyone else's) research on skulls.

Leave comments if you wish, and enjoy.

-----------------------------SUGGESTED USAGE-------------------

Unnamed Skull:
For those areas you have a lot of allies and you don't want to do a lot of work, why not make your friends a bit smarter to help you out. Admittedly, you'll be helping enemies as well, but, it'd certainly make for an interesting fight.

Thunderstorm Skull:
Looking for a sword to do some sword canceling off of enemies?
Grab thunderstorm, find an elite, get its sword, save/quit then turn off/on your xbox to resume a game without thunderstorm, but WITH a sword.
As a new suggested use, if you have this skull and you're lookin' for the megg egg, you can now get hit, as long as you don't lose all of your shield.

Blind Skull:
Making a movie? Say no more, with this handy skull, you get clear footage all the way.
EDIT BY DOMINO: Blind also helps with your accuracy for sniping or BR-ing, grab it and blast away, just... make sure you know what weapon you have out.
NEW: With the Double Blind effect, you can make a perfectly realistic documentary of the covenant migratory patterns. Thanks Cowbell.

I have no real tips for this xD. sowwy. You can get it if you're doing a study on the rarity of certain quotes, but other than that... Well, you COULD start betraying various marines and Sargeants. Along with some new enemies, you can hear some interesting insults.

Catch Skull:
With Unnamed skull AND catch skull, your marines will be throwing nades with deadly accuracy. Otherwise this skull is simply for those who enjoy the thrill of dodging explosions and picking up 'nades. Use opponents grenades as launching tools. If you're playing on easy, they'll do a surprisingly small amount of damage.

Grunt Birthday Party Skull:
Stand on top of a marine with sputnik on, and shoot them in the head with a BR/pistol/sniper and have a fun trip. Also great if you have no nades on you, but there's a corpse near you. ^_^
Also good if you're surrounded by enemies and need to blow a few of them up when there's a corpse near you.

Famine Skull:
Get this skull..............if you're a lunatic.

Envy Skull:
Get a checkpoint while camo'd on any MC level then save/quit, turn your xbox off/on, then resume and have fun with your infinite camo.

Assassins Skull:
See Famine.

Mythic Skull:
See Assassins

Sputnik Skull:
What CAN'T you do with this?! Nade launches, wraith launches, tank launches, etc....etc...etc. Flipping 'hogs with melees.

Angry Skull:
See Famine.

Ghost Skull:
See Mythic.

Iron Skull:
Why would you EVER get this skull??? I mean, the others at least make the game more challenging, but this? This is SO worthless.... *goes off on unintelligable rant about the pointlesseness of this skull.*

Black Eye Skull:
Effective for long range launches that involve a little more "boom" than your shield can handle.
Also great for co-op heroic or lower. Ever need an Overshield? just turn to your partner and *thwack*. Just be sure to apologize... because "agressive co-op" can be really bad.

Thanks again to tmac for the idea.

------------------------FAKE/RUMORED SKULL SECTION------------------------

Infinite skull- This skull was "supposedly" on QZ and were I not lazy, I would dig up an old locked topic with info on it. Point is, it's fake

Cowbell Skull- Whether or not this skull is fake is beyond me and anyone else who doesn't work for bungie. Cowbell is in the hex and is thought to be the unnamed skull, but there is no proof and there never will be.

Whuppopotomus Skull- Same as Cowbell really.

That's Just...Wrong Skull- Commonly mistaken as a possible skull, but this tag is merged with in-game dialogues and instructions. *Thanks to gothi on this*
Maji Skull- A well documented "skull" on outskirts near IWHBYD's spawn point. This skull had no powers, but was found to be false along with the other fakes.

Ice Cream Skull- Ice cream is indeed in the hex, but it's not a skull, it's a skull indicator. Any tag involving a skull is called Ice Cream "random flavor".
The Skull Menu- Not really a skull, but there was once a menu in the mainmenu.map file that involved switches for turning certain(if not all) skulls on and off by a whim. This was, however, taken out, or "simplified" as a Bungie employee said it. This simplification is still being considered at Bungie's forums, but we've pretty much left the possibility alone.
It's my personal belief that this has something to do with profile naming, but I'm far too lazy to actually check.

-------------------------LAST SKULL SECTION-----------------------

Yes, an entire section dedicated to "The Last Skull".

Through extensive hex research by gothi and many other experienced modders, it's been PROVEN. No last skull.
That, and Bungie has stated that no more skulls exist. Sure we'd all like another skull, but there ISN'T ONE. It's been FULLY proven, NO MORE QUESTIONS ON THE LAST, DAMN SKULL.

There are several different acronyms stored throughout Bungie's history. IOHBOY, JNAMSFTFY, EGATFIBGBCSIMAW, and the list goes on. These acronyms SO FAR have contained no secrets, eggs, or even anything related to the game they're in. In fact, they're just crude messages. One example is on Myth II's soundtrack; WUBNMH- Take a guess. You'll never get it.
It's What's Up bisonskie? Not Much, Holmes.
Yeah. Nothing to do with Myth.

To see a list of all the acronyms that have been found and/or solved, go here
This is PROOF THAT WE HAVEN'T SOLVED EGATFIBGBCSIMAW OR IOHBOY!!!!!! So stop pretending we have. >_>

----------------------------VERSION HISTORY------------------------------

EDIT: Version 1.1 complete with Black eye added effect/Mythic confirmations.
Version 1.2 complete with the skull database linked.
Version 1.3 complete with added thunderstorm effect.
Version 1.4 complete with fixed assassin's skull effect/Debatable Black Eye effect.
Version 1.5 added with Black Eye's confirmed effect.
Version 1.6 added with Mythic debate part added, Ghost skull information added, and Angry skull information added.
Version 1.7 not much here, just a little Famine update.
Version 1.8 not tons, but there's some nice angry skull confirmation.
Version 1.9 up, tons of stuff in this one, most of which deals with the new sign up sheet for skull research.
Version 2.0 is now up. yay. Got the new section for suggested usage. ^_^
Version 2.1 A whole ton of schlapskie has been added for this "little" update. If you don't know what was added, you should die.
Version 2.2 Rumored skulls section has been added. Wee.
Version 2.3 yipee, we're back with a wee bit on Thunderstorm's effects
Version 2.4 Remodeling... that's really about it... nicer look to it.
Version 2.8 Yay for the skull thread's triumphant return! Many facts and corrections added this time around. The sign-up sheet for help has also been taken out, as it was just taking up space.
Version 2.9 I changed the straight-up URLs to nice, sexy links, and corrected a few spelling errors, etc...etc... -S.O.G.
Version THREE POINT OH!!! Yay for Cowbell and his sexy Blind info. S.O.G. I had spelling erros? I hadn't realized. Thanks muches.

Thank you.

Anything I may have missed can be found SOMEWHERE here.
Though I doubt much will be found.

good morrow :rampancy:

Again, this has been discussed thoroughly in the underground, don't talk to me about us already having a skull database.
This is a PURELY research thread. Any and all new findings should be posted here so that they may be added to the extensive list.

It seems MANY people ignore the skull database and just flood to Campaign. Ironically, it's because they acknowledge the difference between Campaign and MP here at HIH that we have this problem... so this topic is for you, strangely obedient rule breakers.

Thanks Taso, great compilation of stuff here. I'm tempted to sticky this for the V3, but let's see how it goes.

Looks great, weve been neading an updated skull sticky. I say go for. Cant hurt and the only thing well lose is pointless threads about people asking if a skull is new, or what one does, or how to get one. STICKY

I think this is a great thread, so I'm going to stick it. I'm not trying to override you here Prince, but as Dollar said, the positive outweighs the negative when it comes to the after effects of a new and updated Skull thread. If you'd rather wait, unstick it when you see this and we'll go from there. :)

I completely agree. We need a skull sticky, so we don't get threads like: "OMG I foundzorz a notha Skull on owtskurtZ!11!!1!" That may have been a bit over the top, but you get the point. Newbs here don't know how to get to the old forums to access the skull forum, so I like the idea.

Honestly, I think people read stickies less than they read bumped posts >_>

Either way, thanks Domino.

Also, anyone with fixes to this, please post. Or any new research and whatnot.
I'd like this to be the most updated topic concerning the skulls.

good morrow :rampancy:

There are some usages for the catch skull.

1. Gather a ton of Grunts on easy and use their Greandes to launch you instead of their own (You can use more Grenades and recieve less damage while doing so).

2. AI launching. Grunts will survive Grenades thrown by their Teammates, though not those thrown by a Spartan. (Plasma in both cases, Thunderstorm and Mythic recommended.)

When I'm back from my hols I'll read through the entire thing and suggest some more, that was the only thing that really caught my eye at once.
Good Job mate. :)

it's nice to finally notice this sticky. not really sure how long my squinty eyes have continued to dance and fall upon every post around it. err umm nevermind.

Taso i would like if you would add in the "double-blind" effect for the blind skull.

heres the V2 forum link:

for information purposes, the multiplayer variant i used was oddball. not sure if that matters. thanks! its for the ULTIMATE movie makers. i guess. so long waypoint! so long "flip banshee!"

thanks again.

Thank you Cowbell!
Want me to slap your link up there too, or just leave an explanation there?
Thanks again S.O.G.

thats up to you Taso, if you think its enough.

i never finished fully testing out the details. like if theres some levels it wont work on, some gametype variants it wont happen with...

your sticky, your call. i respect whatever choice you make.

you do however, have my permision.

PS--- perhaps a suggested use for IWHBYD is for some good laughs. on outskirts i wouldnt go out for a launching session with the invincible warthog/marines without it. some of the things they say.... :D

another thing i never mentioned to anybody, not a "discovery" or anything. but it was so cool. i had assassins active. at the beginning of outskirts i was trying to get sarge to say things to me. i hit him one too many times and like this:

he turns and looks at me, a mean look on his face. and cloaks.

the coolest thing ever. with blind on, it was just an awesome sight to see. okay i rambled enough...

thats all for now.

I have a suggestion for Sputnik fun.
Take two SMGs and have a player or A.I. in a vehicle *'hogs = massive fun* Then have them go off something where they can get air. An awesome places is where the first 'hog comes on Outskirts. Drive it off towards the pelican so it goes off that edge and have the other player shoot at with the duelies and it gets like launched lol I've gotten it to the Pelican but I haven't done much more with it... Fun to flip that annoying 'hog with the stupid marine who won't stop:p

Not sure if we have all the names down and understood, but aren't these right or close to right? I never read anyhting explaining the names.

Unnamed Skull-
Don't know

Thunderstorm Skull- Getting through those Spec Ops can be a storm. Obviously it's refering to the difficulty, it's like a storm.

Blind Skull- Makes it so you don't see any HUD or gun. Seeing disability. Blindness.

IWHBYD Skull- Who's Your Daddy is a term used verbally quite a bit in certain areas. It's a term. A verbal term. So it unlocks verbal dialougue.

Catch Skull- Grenades are tossed. You catch things that are tossed.

Grunt Birthday Party Skull- Blowin' things up is quite a party.

Famine Skull- A famine is a when resources run low. Ammo is a resource.

Envy Skull- Chief Envies the Arbiter's camo systems. Tah da!

Assassin's Skull- An assassin is usualy considered sneaky. Like a ninja. Camo makes it easy for you to sneakily snaek up on enemies.

Mythic Skull-
Goes with the difficulties. After a legend, anything harder would seem like a myth story.

Sputnik Skull- Sputnik was the first man-made object meant to go into space. Space has reduced wait.

Angry Skull- When you're angry, you shoot faster to kill the foe.

Ghost Skull- Ghosts are never surpriesd and never flinch.

Iron Skull- ?

Black Eye Skull- Melee people. A melee is like a punch that makes a black eye.

If you want, you can use the links in my Gamesaves thread for a gamesave link for each skull. I think it would be more complete too.

Gamesaves Guru.

Iron Skull- ?
i must say, i didnt know what to think. the ones i have listed here in the quote box are things i never considered. you're explanation of Mythic kinda blew me away. it makes sense, so from me at least... good job. :)

Iron, i also have listed. because there seems to be no reason for Iron to do what it does. what did i do?

i googled it. sadly, all i worked with was wikipedia, so heres what the rest of the world has to say about Iron, lightly...

Iron is the second most abundant metal on Earth
Iron is also the second most abundant element by mass, making up 34% of the mass of the Earth
The large amount of iron in the Earth is thought to create its magnetic field
Nuclei of iron have some of the highest binding energies per nucleon, surpassed only by the nickel isotope 62Ni

the last two seem to suggest more so what Iron skull does. magnetic field, and binding energies. i really hate coming up with nothing, but sometimes thats where stuff comes from.

So, if iron bonds well, how about this.

Player one and two are bonded, even in death. If one dies, the the other won't go on without him.

Or, you've gotta be tough as iron to play/finish a damn map with this skull. :P

Decent stuff, but not exactly concrete... I'll add it if you can find a definition for Iron that goes with the effect. A definition that doesn't sound like someone was trying to find Ling Ling in the clouds. >_>
You all know how I feel about that.

good morrow :rampancy:

Taso, if you haven't listened to the Bungie Podcast, they confirmed that IWHBYD makes rare dialogue more common. They didn't actually refer to it by name, but Jay Weinland said that one of the skulls eliminates the code that causes certain dialogue snippets to be skipped.

Yes, I had heard that, I'd been meaning to download that. I'll do that in a bit, but for now, I will add that as a confirmed effect for it.
