Music Production - 01-28-2011 , 06:46 PM

I've been getting into music production lately (Dubstep) and I was wondering, if any of you have any experience in this field, what programs would be great to make music like Excision, Downlink, and Datsik? If you have no idea about any of these producers I'll post links below to some of their best works. (IMO)

Excision:Subsonic
Downlink:Crippled_Camel
Datsik:Retreat

|Some Remixes and Partners of theirs|
Excision ft. Liquid Stranger:Get_to_the_Point
Excision ft. Datsik:Calypso
Apex:Nowhere_to_Run_(Excision_ft._Datsik _Remix)

Please help out!!

Ableton is excellent for that kind of thing. You can download the free trial here:

I've been producing and mixing dubstep and such for about 2 years now. I can start off by saying you've got a looot of work to do to be able to synthesize schlapskie like excision and co. It's basically a TON of resampling and mastering done to get just part of a bassline, so it can take months just to get one part done.

I recommend Ableton and watching tutorials, then disregarding everything and trying to make something original rather than just copying everyone else. good luck

On the contrary. I say try to emulate, and once you get something similar THEN disregard everything, forget what you learned about their sounds, and make your own stuff.

Start with this.
