That One Goddamn Skynard Cover from That One Goddamn Mullen Video - 03-04-2011 , 06:55 PM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U-cgn3cEGA
Remember this video? Yeah, back from when skateboarding was still culturally relevant? Remember that fine-ass cover of Sweet Home Alabama?

The video's been up for five years and has 15 million views, and apparently nobody can find the song in it. The song is cited to a "ZoeAngel." There is one video for the supposed song on youtube, which is just the audio from the Mullen video ripped and reupped by some dickhead. There is a second song on youtube under the name Zoe Angel called Desert Painter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-x0Xuw9lF4), which doesn't sound much like the skynard cover. However, Zoeangel - Desert Painter is listed on the soundtrack for some less interesting skateboard video (http://www.skatevideosite.com/skatev...-if/soundtrack), as is Zoeangel - Early Talent (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHGQ1sMeQq0), which sounds closer to the song in question I guess. Additionally, there are claims that these songs are incorrectly cited to Zoeangel and are actually from a band called Looner, which is composed of two members named Zoe and Angel. However, this seems to be a dead end, as Looner sucks something awful, and there doesn't appear to be any Zoeangel anywhere else on the internet.

So, how about it? Anybody have any good leads? Or god forbid, the song itself?

No help here, sorry. That Mullen video is still ridiculous, though.

Years. YEARS. That's what I've given this site. It's been hilarious and maddening, mind numbing and thought provoking, moments of astonishment and headaches. The best thing this site has given me one the best community on the 'net. HIH will always be unparalleled.

Thanks for everything, you will be sorely missed.

Excellent tricks, but I don't see what's so hot about the song. The original is better, IMO.

Now here's some skate vids with real ROCKIN' tunes! XD

So Zoe Angel appears to be the band for the song, not Looner.

wufei31 who posted Desert Painter doesn't seem to have said where he got the track, (And the poster for the Best Of Rodney Mullen video doesn't know where the song is either.)

I think it's worthwhile to find the source for the original video, or try to contact that company Blind that produced the What If video, (Or just find the credits, for the producer.) which included tracks from Zoe Angel. (The contact page for Blind leads to dwindle.com, which has a list of numbers.)

Not going to look for the credits to What If right now, going to sleep.

Yeah, I did a little more digging after I posted and found that the Mullen video is from Globe Shoes' "Opinion" video. I checked the credits for Opinion and What If and both credit Zoeangel/ZoŽangel. Additionally, besides producer credits there were two dudes who worked on both videos; one was an editor named Jean-Jacques Briquet, and the other was a sound department guy named Howard Paar. Being that Briquet apparently does not speak english, I thought my best bet would be to try and get ahold of Howard Paar and ask him politely how to get ahold of the song/album/contact info for Zoeangel, but the best lead I could find was a Linkedin profile for someone who may or may not be the same Howard Paar that I could pay 20 bucks to contact him through. I'll definitely do some more digging, just not right now.

Also note that I am not the OP of this, I just found it on 420chan's /mu/.
With no replies because apparently somewhere between 1975 and 2010 stoners lost their inherent awesome taste in music.

I do believe so. I'm guessing there are at least 7 proxies in play, so I don't see much that could be done at the moment...

There is only one, and that's only because Dmon deletes like 80% of his posts.

Mullen has always been ridiculous. The things that guy can do with a skateboard are just mind blowing. He is truly the king of flatland. Here is a pretty cool old school video of him from 1984: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuMmT...eature=related

It's like dancing with a skateboard. So fluent to. Not to mention the stark difference in Mullen's look between the video in the 1st post and now.
