What cables do I need? - 01-19-2007 , 03:24 PM

First of all, I just bought the KWORLD DVD MAKER PCI, and have installed it into my PC. Of course, it doesn't work at the moment as I don't know what to do to plug it in. Before I installed it, I took a picture of it (see end of post), and all the cables that I think I'll need (360 ones included) Basically, my computer is about 5 metres away from my Xbox360/TV, so if I could find long cables, that'd be ace.

But basically, I'm wondering what cables I need (Links would be awesome), and how to plug them in.

Cheers

Edit: Ahh, that picture killed the page; here's a link:

With the PCI card to the new image hookup, I'm not 100% sure it's correct, you guys probably know what should be there.

Cheers.

Summary: After reading the stickies, I think I need a LONG male-male cable. Can someone re-assure me on this? Or give me some links?

UPDATE:

I think I have found the cables I need:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?...L04BA&DOY=21m1 <--- 3 of them

Am I right?

For basic recording, you would need a long male to male and 3 joiners to join the xbox 360 male ends to the male end of the long cable.

To err is human, to screw things up completely requires a computer.

Ok, firstly move the 360 next to the PC and make sure the thing works!

As I presume you want to play on the TV at the same time when it does work, I would advise looking at the Tutorial Sticky as it has links to many of the items you need.

PYeah, last night I tested it while playing through my PC, it worked fine, (Just a like, 0.1 second delay) The tutorials don't link to any of the Long (~5metre) male-male cables, and I've tried googling and manually searching, but to no avail.

I dont think those will work
try this

edit-
Sorry, i thought your post said "5 feet"
the above cable is only 6 feet long, so you will need to find something similar, but longer.

The bottom cable is sort of useable, but you would probably find it cheaper to get a 3 in 1 thing with them all attached.

The top thing is designed to plug phono connections into a PC - it's not what you need

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...=1018&criteria= Something like that bay be more appropriate.

The other cable suggested by wizdum may be another alternative - plug the xbox into that, that into the TV and then use the other side of the phonos on the end to run 3 male -> male cables to the CC.

Argh, just realised I need male-male cables (like, 7 metres), and can't find any.

Anyone know where to find them? Cheers.

IT may be easier to buy them on the high street - I found a set of 5m ones at a palce called Discount Electronix very cheaply.

You could always join cables together if you had to - just be warned that runs that long will almost certainly pick up a lot of noise, so dont try and record off that run - use the run ot get to the TV.

I live in like; a really small town, and we don't even have a high-street, so that's sort of out of the question.

I can't believe that the cables I want don't exist? Gah, I'm constantly searching though..

EDIT: !!!!!
