wtf...... - 01-28-2007 , 05:24 AM

my monitor died on me today so i went out and bought a new one....Samsung SyncMaster 19 inch flatscreen LCD.

Pretty nice monitor, only problem is that the back only has slots for the computer and the power. No speaker or printer slots.

So now i have a nice, working monitor but no speakers or printer.

help?

You can find those slots on the back of your computer, ive never seen anyone hook up his printer through his monitor.

lol, printer to monitor...

Speakers use the computer sound output, not the monitor.

You will find all of those ports on the back of your tower.

The printer port will look like this.

And the audio will probably look like the ports at the bottom of this image.

Plug your speakers into the GREEN one. The PINK port is for a microphone.

It'll probably be a USB port actually, do they even make printers that use those parallel ports anymore?

Kalos, yeah, they still do. I recently got a HP office pack printer and copier and all that jazz, and it still uses the parallel ports. The printer is a 2006 model too.

I just assumed when he said "printer port" he actually meant a proper printer port - Not USB. :)

I'm surprised, parallel ports are now pretty much considered archaic and are phased out of a lot of new PC's.

Well, it took me some time to find one with parallel ports. My desktop computer is pretty old, so it doesn't have any USB ports on the back, and I didn't feel like having a cord running to the front of my computer, so I just looked around for a printer with the parallel ports on it. As I was walking through staples, I'd say 95% of the printers were USB, so yeah, you are basically correct Kalos.
