Marine "Group" names -

So, eventually in the game marines join your fight, and it shows them as squadmates at the bottom corner with their names and tags.
On the level that has a lot of jetpacking in it (7th mission), a marine joined my team with the tag of "MRTY" and the name Lt. M. O'donnell, which stands for Marty O'Donnell, the man behind the game's music. Anyways, just wondering if anyone else has run across any other developer marines? |

Yeah I noticed this quite a bit, neat little egg they decided to put in. I recognized a few names including "J. Staten" and "J. Jones"
Though I think their names are randomized and you can get any name at any time, not just specific missions |

Yeah I think so too. He was voiced like a regular marine and didn't do anything special.
Actually, he didn't do much of anything but run in the wrong direction... |

Yeah there was. And they joke about him being bad all the time on the podcasts.
But really, I just think it was a crappy AI. Alot of the marines just stood around when I played on normal... haha |

talking about marty
i wonder where they hid the siege of madrigal this time :) we know it has to be there as it was in all 4 of the previous halo games and they would never let us go from the series without that awesome little piece of piano music |

I got O'donnel on the jetpack level also, so I believe he is less randomized.

I coulda sworn I saw B. Grylls at one point. o__O
If not him, I know I saw a marine with a name that wasn't a Bungie employee. |

I can verify that there are a TON of Bungie employees in the Marine names. I've seen many folks from various teams in there. From old school (Chucky, JJ) to newer school ones.

Here's my personal favorite, and I think is an awesome tribute by Bungie.
Logan Starline, known as 'BerserkerBarage' on Xbox LIVE, and Bungie.net, was a very well known member, was featured in one of the "Average JOE" interviews on B.net, very well liked, and an was an all around great guy. I had the pleasure of playing with him more than a few times. He passed away earlier this year. Tag: BB Name: L. Starline |
