they are no longer limited to just the PC and xbox 360 they can now make games for the wii the ps3 and any other things they want but i am almost certian most things that come out will also be on the 360 this is only letting them expand not totally leave they are a growing company that just didnt have the room to grow standing in the shadow of microsoft now they do and they will continue to grow and grow for many years to come i think this is a great thing for them

Bungie can make new franchises and games that they want to make. If they remained at Microsoft, they would be rehashing Halo for ever with nothing else inbetween. Not to mention it doesn't seem likely that there will be another Xbox next generation, so that may have been part of why MS was willing to give them up.

For all of you folks that just want to buy shovel-ware with the name 'Halo' on the box, don't worry. Microsoft will continue to make 'Halo' games to cash in on the name with or without Bungies assistance(since MS has the rights), like Halo Wars or that movie tie-in game.

This is a good thing because now Bungie wont be forced to make games only for the Xbox brand (excluding Halo). More widespread appeal means more money for Bungie, which means they can hire more staff and spend more on development costs, which means they can make better games faster.

What on earth would make you think there wont be a 3rd Xbox? Are you insane? Microsoft has been doing phenominally this generation, especially compared to last generation. A couple years ago I remember reading an article in which one of the higher ups at Microsoft (Peter Moore I think) said something along the lines of "Even if we lose money with the Xbox 360, Microsoft wont give up that easy. There will definitely be a 3rd version of the Xbox."

You don't really have a clue do you? Regardless of how many Xbox 360 consoles they sell, do you have any idea how much money Microsoft's Xbox division is still losing? Last fiscal year it lost 1.89 billion. While it's true that number is before Halo 3 sales(they wouldn't come anywhere near to close to making that a positive number anyway, lol), it's also less than a month before MS extended the 360 warranty to three years, they lose a hell of a lot repairing and shipping those consoles around. If Microsoft chooses to release a third generation Xbox, it will be out of stubbornness, not financial success.

And for those folks still talking about Halo DS, it's fake. It's just a mod/video made out of Goldeneye: Rogue Agent. Why Matt from IGN would perpetrate such a rumor, I have no idea.

I doubt Halo 3 will be on Vista, unless a new windows is released, XP 2000, Vista, etc. No Halo 3 for PC. HOW will it run? No way it could.

Halo DS could be fun, but sorta gay. The only parts I would like are Halo 3 on the go and the Wi-Fi connection could improvise as Xbox live. :)

m$ is a bastard. they constantly shoot themselves in the feet, by ruining great code, with m$ specific security code, among other codes they put on top. ( ask your computer why m$ is monitoring your mouscliks and key strokes?)

also, they aren't beholden to them for release ways,dates, etc. not to mention being told when and what to do, with their own creation. M$ is the pits, and it really can cost ya to work with them.
